I’m Alejandro Lecuna, a tenured professor of Integrated Design at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences (Bauhaus Campus) in Dessau, where I teach design with a special emphasis on design methodologies. With over 30 years of experience in the design industry, I’ve had the privilege of combining my professional expertise with my passion for education. My approach draws inspiration from the Bauhaus tradition, aiming to create innovative, inclusive, and interdisciplinary learning experiences that inspire students to make meaningful, sustainable design interventions.

Throughout my career, I’ve taught at institutions across the globe and at all levels, including Oxford University, Imperial College London, Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico, and Beijing Normal University. My teaching philosophy encourages students to experiment with media, explore and develop interdisciplinary design methods, and engage with emerging challenges—often through speculative and future-oriented design practices.

At the heart of my research is a fascination with speculative design and future studies. In the Bauhaus Innovation Lab, I explore how we can design for uncertain futures by imagining the worlds we might inhabit and the design artifacts that could emerge. My goal is to prepare designers for the unknown and inspire them to shape the future by embracing complexity and ambiguity.
